Sites without RSS feeds are your ticket to a Blogosphere Scoop - Audio Quickie

January 29, 2009 by Jerry Hart · Leave a Comment

There is a fact about internet marketing that I know is more than just my opinion. It’s… “be the one to introduce interesting new sources to the feed readers of the world, and drive new buyers into your site, everyone wins”. So here’s the steps to get your head around the rules and steps to starting a blogosphere “Scoop”

In some cases, readers provide a link for your readers to investigate or expand upon. Your blog readers are the heart and soul of the blog conversation and will often give you great leads to follow. Even emails [Google Alerts] may yield insights that can lead to informative posts. As your blog becomes more popular, you’ll find that your readers will send you related items to post on. My recommendation is to peruse those few key sites that contain information vital to your industries editorial arena that does not issue RSS feeds. That’s the hook of my post here today, no RSS feeds is an opportunity for you.

If you are a regular visitor, and discover new material there, there is a chance that it hasn’t been posted on yet, and you can have a blogosphere, “scoop”. I love those sites that the other bloggers aren’t paying close attention to.

The short of this strategy is: focus on finding source material that is not being readily fed into the RSS ecosystem. That can mean avoiding blogs, and news and magazine sites that offer syndicated feeds altogether. This is where your personal expertise comes in handy; you can probably find a treasure trove of sites that don’t offer feeds in your area of interest.

You should be the person to introduce those ideas to the blogosphere. The proper (and considerate) protocol is to write some brief commentary – perhaps quote small sections of these writings – and without exception link back to the original sources.

If you can be the one to introduce interesting new sources to the feed readers of the world, and drive new buyers into your site, everyone wins.

At this stage, you may have identified some time-sensitive items that should be blogged about ASAP.

If you do, get those up immediately. If not, continue on to gather more possible editorial fodder.
